SUMMER CAMP

Get Ready for SUmmer!

Super Star Summer Camp Runs June 13th – August 26th 2022!

We are so very excited to have fun this summer for our 34th year of Summer Camp! We successfully ran Camp last summer in a way that covered all the new standards and practices and will continue to follow whatever new guidelines that are released for this summer.

These are the guidelines we followed last year, 2021. We will post any comply to any updates that are released moving forward.

The grounds, facility, and programs were organized in a way that went along with new health standards, social distancing, and group restrictions/placements. We will adjust whatever we can and will hopefully get back to being able to focus on just having fun at Camp. We will be following the information presented to us by the Health Department and American Camp Association.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have more questions about our program?  Hopefully we can answer them below!

What age should my kid start summer camp?

Our programs are designed for Campers between the ages of 3 – 13. Kids are split up into Bunks by age and gender (after 6 years old). Each Bunk rotates through the property/facility and participates in the activities designed for their age group and ability.

How many days should my kid come to summer camp?
Campers should come for at least 2 weeks (3 days minimum each week) to get the full camp experience.  This amount of time allows each kid to get comfortable with their counselors and fellow campers and also gives them enough time to start learning from our instructional programs.
What happens if it rains?
We have rainy day schedules set up to match all the different types of weather.  All picnic areas are covered for when it’s just a little rainy but we also have several rooms inside the facility for if it gets stormy outside.
What are my food options at summer camp?
We encourage you to pack a lunch/snacks (refrigerators are available for every bunk) but we also have snacks, drinks, noodles, and mac n cheese for sale.
We also have Pizza Friday!  We offer pizza, snacks, and drinks on fridays for a small fee.
How do you handle schedule changes or cancellations?
No refunds for absences or withdrawals without a two week written notice. $100 cancellation fee. Transfers will only be permitted if space is available for a $25 transfer fee.
How do you take payments?
You can pay cash, check, or Credit card. A minimum $200 deposit is due with all applications. Payments must be made in full after May 30th.  All payments must be made prior to the camp week.
Are the programs instructional?
Our Swimming, Gymnastics, Arts n Crafts, and Sports programs are all instructional.  Lessons plans are designed for each bunks age and ability level.

Summer Camp COVID Update

These Guidelines were from last year’s Summer Camp.  We will update any changes that are given to us by the CDC and Governor when we receive them.

We know that our summer camp will look very different this year as we face the new normal. As we follow the new guidelines and procedures for summer camp what will not change is the commitment to our families. Establishing a safe, healthy and FUN camp experience for every child will be our priority. We have been presented with government mandates and will follow these guidelines to keep our camp safe.

The following is a list of changes that we have made to our camp program to comply with the NJ State Guidelines for Summer Camps.

Health Screening

Parents are required to do a health screening and temperature check at home before coming to camp. If your child, or family member is experiencing any of the following symptoms, please do not bring your child to camp:

  • Temperature above 100.4
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell

All GCA staff will also undergo a daily health screening upon arrival. Any camper the exhibits these symptoms during camp will be immediately quarantined and required to be picked up within the hour.

CAMP HOURS

During camp hours per NJ Guidelines, only campers and staff are permitted in the building.

DROP OFF

Drop off and pick up will look different this year. We will be staggering our times for arrival at camp and each group will keep social distancing while dropping off and picking up. We will be doing temperature checks and also hand sanitizing.

FACE MASKS

All staff will be required to wear masks. Anyone dropping off or picking up a camper is required to wear a mask. The CDC recommends that all campers bring face masks: we will encourage campers to wear them while not keeping social distancing.

SWIMMING

Children will not be wearing face masks in the pool. Lifeguards will not wear masks while lifeguarding. It is encouraged that the lifeguards wear masks when they are not actively lifeguarding. Children will wear their bathing suits to camp and will not be changing at the end of the day. The campers will be given enough time to dry off before going home.

LUNCH

Following the CDC recommendations we will not be providing any lunch or snacks this year. We will have refrigeration available, however, water fountains will not be used. We encourage camper’s to bring their own water bottle (WITH THEIR NAME ON IT).

GROUP

Campers are placed in the grade they will be attending in the fall. The groups will be much smaller that we have had in the past.

BELONGINGS

Campers will have a designated space to keep their camp bags.

SANITIZATION

Campers and staff will wash/sanitize their hands when entering camp, before and after every activity. Hand sanitizer stations will be set up throughout our facility. All equipment and playground equipment will be sanitized after each group. Also we have a service that comes in at night and will clean and sanitize for the next day camp.

All areas are fenced in and adults are required for your child’s entry at the beginning and exit at the conclusion of each camp day. We take the safety of your children very seriously.
